How Groundhog Day Can Help Your Small Business

Date posted: January 31, 2013

Did you know that each February, students across the country participate in National Groundhog Job Shadow Day (NGJSD)? This is a national campaign that gives young people a chance to learn about careers they’re interested in. The event is a joint effort of America’s Promise – Alliance for Youth, Junior Achievement and the U.S. Department of Labor. This year’s NGJSD is Friday, Feb. 1 (tomorrow), so it’s a little late for this year, but you can still grab a student you know, or plan ahead for next year by contacting local colleges to see if they participate. Groundhog Day is one of those holidays you might not think of marketing around, but get creative and you can find a way. Or look for another holiday that’s more relevant to your small business. Framing your message around a holiday can increase interest in your marketing efforts. Last but not least, check out Barry Moltz’s post on the top 10 ways small businesses live out Groundhog Day and how to stop making the same mistakes over…and over…and over. (Yep, this post is a couple years old, but some things are worth repeating.)
