What’s the state of angel investor financing these days? A recent study from The Center for Venture Research indicates although the number of companies receiving angel investment capital in Q 1& 2 2009 has slightly increased, the overall dollar amount that’s being invested has significantly decreased. It makes sense from the instable economy that investors would be more cautious in their lending.

According to the study, 22 percent of the businesses seeking capital were women-owned while only 6 percent of these women-owned business actually received investment money. Surprisingly, only 8 percent of the entrepreneurs seeking angel funding were minority-owned businesses.

Businesses in the medical and software fields received the highest number of investment share.
