The U.S. government spends more than $535 billion annually, and small business owners who want to participate in government contracting need to learn how to use the newly launched System for Award Management (SAM) Web portal.

The new, free website will impact every individual or organization that does business with the federal government. In the past, signing up for the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) was the first step for any small business looking to win government contracts; but now the CCR, along with several of the federal government’s other procurement and financial awards systems, has been consolidated into SAM, which was designed and is operated by IBM.

To help business owners better understand the new Web portal, American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) are offering a free web tutorial on Wednesday, August 29. This educational webinar is part of the Give Me 5 program, a national program created by American Express OPEN and WIPP to help women business owners get a leg up on selling to the world’s largest customer: the U.S. government.

IBM Global Business Services representative Kristen Humphrey will guide small business owners through the phased implementation of SAM and provide all the information you need to know to register your business and search for data in the new system.

Visit this link to learn more and sign up. You can register up through the day of the event.
