What colors will be hot this fall?

Pantone, the global color authority, just released its fall color report for fashion—and, according to Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute,  “The fall 2015 palette is rooted in multi-faceted, androgynous colors. It is the first time we are seeing a truly unisex color palette.”

Fall colors seem to be rooted in the same family that gave us Marsala as 2015’s color of the year. There are a lot of earthy neutrals. But Pantone also says there are “bold color statements and patterns that reflect a landscape of hope, fun, fantasy and all things natural.”

Pantone’s top 10 fashion colors for fall are:

  • Stormy Weather
  • Oak Buff
  • Dried Herb
  • Marsala
  • Biscay Bay
  • Cadmium Orange
  • Cashmere Rose
  • Desert Sage
  • Reflecting Pond
  • Amethyst Orchid

This fashion palette seems to be a step back toward the brights. The color-of-the-year announcement wasn’t exactly universally embraced (many called Marsala a muddy color), so the combination of deeper earth tones and brighter “fun” hues is sure to make more designers and consumers happy.

Remember, “hot” colors aren’t limited to the industry they’re associated with (in this case, fashion). If you own a business that needs to stay trendy (retail, some restaurants, home décor, graphic design, etc.) it’s smart to incorporate a least a few of these fall colors into your business.
