As the wife of a beer sales manager, I wasn’t the least surprised by the findings of the Bureau of Labor Statistics report on What America Spends on Booze. Out of every $100 American consumers spend, $1 goes to alcohol. From 1982 to 2012, that percentage hasn’t changed much, but where Americans spend it has. More is spent in bars and restaurants, although the reason could be the prices in bars and restaurants has gone up significantly. Although the prices for alcohol purchased for home consumption have gone comparably down. For more, check out this NPR blog.
