Have you entered Walmart’s “Get on the Shelf” competition yet? Anyone with a product in a category that Walmart carries can enter this contest–no matter how small your business is–and make your case directly to Walmart’s customers. Kind of like “American Idol,” videos of the products will be showcased online for America to vote for the winner.

If your company’s consumer product wins the contest, you have a chance to win:

  • featured placement on Walmart.com’s home page, exposing your product to millions of customers,
  • valuable marketing support from Walmart,
  • advice on scaling up so you can produce the number of products Walmart wants,
  • and, of course, a spot on Walmart store shelves.

Products can range from housewares and electronics to toys and apparel. All you have to do is submit a video and some information about your business and product. Visit the Get on the Shelf website to get rules, full details and enter the contest.

The deadline to enter is February 22, 2012, so get going! The first round of voting to choose 10 finalists will take place March 7 through April 4; the second round of voting, from April 11 through April 24, will select the top three contestants and one grand prize winner.
