Seeking money for your startup or for expansion seems like a never-ending task. You can make it a little easier by going to Business.gov’s loan and grant search tool.

Fill in the blanks and the tool will show you the business loans, grants and other types of financing programs that your state offers. The results vary depending on what criteria you put in. For example, you can specify that you’re looking for startup funds or expansion capital; whether you’re a woman, minority or a veteran.

I used the tool to search for expansion capital for a woman-owned business in California. The results took up a full page and ranged from the SBA’s 7(a) loan program to programs from the California State Treasurer, a loan program for women in certain California counties, and a local community development financial institution.

These days, you need all the help you can get when it comes to getting financing. This search tool is a great addition to your arsenal.
